In early
1981, a Canadian geologist began prospecting for
diamonds in the vast, wind swept icescape of the
Canadian arctic. Despite discouragement from his
colleagues, and seemingly insurmountable odds, he
persisted in his lonely and difficult quest. Then, in
the winter of 1991, his dream was finally realized when
he discovered diamonds on the shores of Point Lake,
Northwest Territories. This discovery led to what later
proved to be among the world's richest diamond deposits,
sparking the biggest staking rush in Canadian history. |
